We get up EARLY in this house. Probably because of the kids... all three of them are early risers. I complain about this sometimes, but mostly I've made my peace with 5a.m. If we're going to add an extra hour or two to the day, we might as well use it mindfully.

Early Forest Walk
This morning we woke up in a tent after a 1st night of camping with the whole family. I opened my eyes to my 9 year old and 4 year old anxious to put their shoes on and explore. With the baby and Chris still sound asleep, we made our way to the bathrooms in the dark, trying not to wake up the other sleeping campers. On the way, the kids used their flashlights (who knew flashlights would be so entertaining), discovered a centipede and several spiders, they crunched leaves, dodged thorny vines, found the brightest star, spotted two deer, jumped over a fallen tree, and glimpsed a bit of the sun coming up through the trees. Beautiful.
We're home now.
It's a little after lunch.
A second pot of coffee is brewing/needed.
I am so grateful for the morning, for THIS morning and the ones to come.
